Check Point’new Zonealarm Forcefield

May 2008 by Marc Jacob

Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. announced the general availability of ZoneAlarm® ForceField™, the industry’s first virtualized browser security solution to enable consumers to bank and shop online, or surf the Internet without fear or limitation. Virtualized browsing places an impenetrable “bubble of security” around the browser, which keeps unwanted malware and other Web threats from damaging the user’s PC or from stealing users’ private information.

When consumers surf the Web, a number of changes — most of them innocuous — are made to their computer systems. For instance, when filling out an online form, the Web site server creates a cookie, which is downloaded onto the user’s PC.

However, not all changes made to computers during Web surfing are useful or benign. The virtualization technology in ForceField forms a “bubble of security” around the Web browser so that all unknown or unwanted changes (from browser exploits and drive-by downloads, spyware, viruses, and junk files) are made to a virtualized file system that disappears once the users are finished surfing.
